Buddhist sites like temples and stupas and symbols like statues of the Buddha are important in Buddhism because they are built by Buddhists who believe in the Buddha, and they remind us of His great and limitless compassion towards all mankind. To Buddhists, these sites and symbols are not just things built from brick, stone, and sand, but in fact are extremely significant and hold a special place in our hearts.
Temples are places where Buddhists refine their minds. When we go to temples, we meet the Triple Gem which is comprised of the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha. The Buddha is represented by the Buddha statue, the Dhamma is the teaching from the monks, and the Sangha are the monks who are considered the sons of Buddha and who spread His teaching.
Therefore, no matter your nationality and no matter the religion you believe in, when you go to a Buddhist religious site, you should dress and behave properly. If you want to take pictures with the temple or the statue of the Buddha, you must always remember that these sites and statues are sacred. They are not ordinary places or figures. Thus, we have prepared the guidelines below for those who would like to visit and take photos at Buddhist sites:
1. Dress properly when visiting Buddhist sites. Do not wear clothes that are too thin or see-through, clothes that are tight, tank tops, sleeveless shirts, or shorts. If ladies want to wear skirts, the length of the skirt should at least cover the knees.
2. During the visit, be sure to behave and act appropriately. This includes your actions, your words, and your thoughts. Do not do, say, or think anything inappropriate or disrespect the sites. Note that public displays of affection are inappropriate too.
3. Stand or sit respectfully when taking pictures with Buddhist sites. Do not raise your feet, dance, jump, or engage in any other inappropriate actions.
4. When taking pictures with a statue of the Buddha, stand, kneel, or sit respectfully in front of the statue while leaving an appropriate distance from the statue. Do not stretch your legs and do not mimic the pose of the statue.
5. Do not climb on or lean against statues or temple structures.
6. Fashion and wedding photography at Buddhist sites or with statues of the Buddha are also inappropriate.

สัญลักษณ์ในพระพุทธศาสนา รวมถึงพุทธศาสนสถานไม่ว่าจะเป็นวัด สถูปเจดีย์ พระพุทธรูป ล้วนเป็นเครื่องรำลึกสำคัญในพระพุทธศาสนา เพราะพุทธศาสนิกชนร่วมสร้างสิ่งต่างๆเหล่า ขึ้นมาด้วยความศรัทธาและเพื่อน้อมรำลึกถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณอันหาที่สุดมิได้ของพระบรมศาสดาที่มีต่อเหล่าเวไนยสัตว์ พุทธศาสนสถานและพระพุทธรูปจึงมิได้เป็นเพียงอิฐ หิน ปูน ทราย ที่มาก่อรวมกัน แต่สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นเครื่องยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจของชาวพุทธมายาวนานและเป็นที่สำคัญยิ่ง
วัดนั้นก็เป็นที่ขัดเกลาจิตใจของพุทธศาสนิกชน เพราะเมื่อเข้าวัดก็ได้พบกับรัตนะทั้งสามดวง คือ พระพุทธ พระธรรม และพระสงฆ์ พระพุทธก็คือพระพุทธรูปซึ่งก็คือตัวแทนของพระบรมศาสดา พระธรรมก็คือคำเทศน์สอนจากพระสงฆ์ และพระสงฆ์ก็คือพุทธบุตรผู้ซึ่งเผยแผ่คำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า
ดังนั้นบุคคลไม่ว่าเชื้อชาติใด ศาสนาอะไร หรือนับถือพระพุทธเจ้าหรือไม่ เมื่อไปท่องเที่ยวตามพุทธศาสนสถานจึงต้องปฏิบัติตัวและแต่งการให้เหมาะสม เมื่อต้องการถ่ายภาพในพุทธศาสนสถานหรือกับพระพุทธรูป ผู้ถ่ายพึงระลึกอยู่เสมอว่า พุทธศาสนสถานนั้นคือสถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ และพระพุทธรูปนั้นคือตัวแทนของพระพุทธเจ้ามิใช่เป็นเพียงรูปปั้น และควรปฏิบัติตัวตามคำแนะนำดังต่อไปนี้
1. พึงแต่งกายด้วยความสำรวมและสุภาพในการเข้าชมพุทธสถาน ไม่สวมเสื้อผ้าที่เนื้อบางจนเห็นผิวหนัง ผ้ารัดรูป เสื้อกล้าม เสื้อแขนกุด และกางเกงขาสั้น สุภาพสตรีเมื่อสวมกระโปรงต้องยาวเกินขัวเข่า
2. เมื่ออยู่ในพุทธศาสนสถานพึงสำกาย วาจา และใจ ไม่กระทำการอันใดอันไม่เหมาะสมหรือเป็นการไม่ให้เกียรติต่อสถานที่ ไม่หยอกล้อเล่นกันจนเกินขอบเขตความเคารพ และไม่แสดงความรักจนเกินงามในเขตศาสนสถาน
3. สำรวมอิริยาบถในขณะถ่ายภาพกับพุทธสถาน ไม่ทำท่าทางอันไม่สุภาพต่าง ๆ เช่น ยกไม้ยกมือ ยกแข้งยกขา กระโดดโลดเต้น
4. เมื่อต้องการถ่ายถาพกับพระพุทธรูป ควรอยู่ในอิริยาบถที่สงบ สำรวม ควรนั่งหรือยืนให้มีระยะห่างจากพระพุทธรูปอย่างเหมาะสม ไม่ควรนั่งเหยียดขา หรือทำท่าเลียนแบบพระพุทธรูป
5. ห้ามปีนป่าย ห้ามท้าว ห้ามพิง ศาสนสถานและพระพุทธรูป
6. ไม่ควรถ่ายแฟชั่นทุกประเภทหรือถ่ายพรีเวดดิ้งที่พุทธศาสนสถานและกับพระพุทธรูป
