Recently, Knowing Buddha Organization was notified that Felissimo which is the E-commerce company in Japan selling unique, creative and interesting products, misuse the Buddha symbol by designing it as cloth bag called “Rahotsu Shibori bag” This is very inappropriate as Buddha is the Buddhist’s father and the founder of Buddhism and the image of such highly noble person is definitely not for use & decoration. So, we sent a letter to Oterabu Felissimo informing the right understanding and knowledge that the Buddha symbol is for paying respect and as a remembrance of his virtues and teaching, not as merchandise and decorative objects and that the products will misguide people to perceive him in a wrong way without having to pay respect to.

After receiving our letter, Oterabu Felissimo expresses its deepest regret for this disrespecting action and will immediately remove the offensive product image from the website as requested by KBO and promises that no more offensive products will be sold on the international sales page in the future as from the following replied message.

“We are deeply sorry that we have offended your organization and Thai Buddhists in this matter. Therefore, we would like to inform you that we will promptly withdraw the relevant products from our international sales page and will not sell them on our international pages in the future.”

This is a very good example of a company doing business with a sense of respect for all religions, caring for other people and willingness to listen and correct for what is wrong. This correction will also be an example for other businesses that still misuse the Buddha symbol for decoration, merchandise and decorative objects.

อีกหนึ่งความร่วมมือในการแก้ไขเพื่อความถูกต้องดีงาม

เป็นอีกหนึ่งตัวอย่างขององค์กรที่ยินยอมเปิดใจรับฟังปัญหาจนนำไปสู่การแก้ไขที่งดงามและน่าสรรเสริญอย่างยิ่ง
.
สืบเนื่องจากเมื่อไม่นานมานี้องค์กรโนอิ้งบุดด้าได้รับแจ้งจากชาวพุทธผู้ไม่นิ่งดูดายว่ามีการปฏิบัติที่ไม่เหมาะสมต่อพระสัญลักษณ์ของพระพุทธเจ้า โดยแผนก Oterabu ของบริษัท Felissimo ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทในประเทศญี่ปุ่นที่เน้นการขายสินค้าแปลกใหม่ หรือสินค้าครีเอทีฟครอบคลุมไลฟ์สไตล์ที่หลากหลายของคนในยุคปัจจุบัน ได้มีการออกแบบดีไซน์ถุงผ้าพระเกศาของพระพุทธเจ้า ซึ่งรู้จักกันในนาม “Rahotsu Shibori bag” โดยมีการจำหน่ายบนหน้าเว็บไซต์ของ Felissimo ทั้งที่เป็น International และ Domestic sales page

การกระทำดังกล่าวเป็นการไม่เหมาะสมอย่างยิ่งเพราะทำให้เกิดความเข้าใจผิดคิดว่าสัญลักษณ์ของพระพุทธองค์นั้นสามารถนำมาเป็นของใช้และของประดับตกแต่งได้ โดยมิจำเป็นต้องให้ความเคารพแต่อย่างใด องค์กรจึงได้ส่งจดหมายถึงแผนก Oterabu เพื่อให้ความรู้ความเข้าใจที่ถูกต้องว่า พระพุทธเจ้าเป็นพุทธบิดาและศาสดาของพุทธศาสนิกชน พระพุทธรูปหรือพระพุทธสัญลักษณ์เป็นสิ่งที่สื่อถึงพระพุทธองค์เพื่อน้อมรำลึกถึงพระคุณและพระธรรมคำสั่งสอน มิใช่มีไว้เพื่อเป็นของใช้หรือเพื่อเป็นของประดับตกแต่งภายในบ้าน

เป็นที่น่าชื่นชมว่า เมื่อได้รับจดหมายจากองค์กร ทางแผนก Oterabu Felissimo ได้แสดงความเสียใจอย่างยิ่งต่อการกระทำดังกล่าวและจะทำการลบรูปภาพสินค้าลบหลู่ออกจากเว็บไซต์ทันที ตามที่ทาง KBO ได้ร้องขอไป รวมทั้งยังให้สัญญาว่าจะไม่มีการขายสินค้าลบหลู่ในเพจสำหรับลูกค้าต่างชาติอีกในอนาคต ดังข้อความในจดหมายตอบกลับมาดังนี้

นับเป็นอีกหนึ่งตัวอย่างของการดำเนินธุรกิจบนพื้นฐานของจิตสำนึกที่ดีงาม ให้ความเคารพกับทุกศาสนา ให้เกียรติเปิดใจรับฟังผู้อื่น และพร้อมแก้ไขในสิ่งที่ผิด กรณีนี้ก็จะเป็นตัวอย่างที่ดีให้กับธุรกิจหรือบริษัทอื่นในการดำเนินธุรกิจบนพื้นฐานของความดี ให้ความเคารพศาสนาอื่น ด้วยการไม่นำพระพุทธสัญลักษณ์มาใช้ในทางที่ผิด เป็นเครื่องใช้และของประดับตกแต่งภายในบ้าน ซึ่งเป็นการลบหลู่พระพุทธองค์ และลดทอนคุณค่าของพระสัญลักษณ์ รวมทั้งยังเป็นการสร้างกรรมให้กับตัวของผู้กระทำเองอีกด้วย

ขอท่านทั้งหลายอย่ามองว่าการที่ผู้คนในปัจจุบันนำพระสัญลักษณ์มาเป็นเครื่องประดับตกแต่ง หรือแม้แต่เป็นสินค้าต่าง ๆนั้น เป็นเรื่องธรรมดาอีกต่อไปเลย สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นการกระทำที่ไม่สมควรทั้งสิ้น ขอท่านได้ร่วมกันทำหน้าที่ของชาวพุทธ ร่วมกันปกป้องพระสัญลักษณ์ของพระพุทธเจ้า หรือแม้ว่าท่านจะไม่ใช่ชาวพุทธ แต่การทำความเคารพสิ่งที่ควรเคารพนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ควรกระทำของมนุษย์ทุกชนชาติและศาสนา โปรดชี้แนะผู้ที่ไม่รู้ให้เขาได้ทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องเถิด
